Barrichello: Schumacher Never Apologized Personally

Although Michael Schumacher said he was sorry about his maneuver on Rubens Barrichello in the closing stages of the Hungarian Grand Prix, he apparently did not speak personally with his former teammate about the incident.

Shortly after the Sunday race, Barrichello implied that Schumacher “is carrying something from the past” and that he should have received the black flag after trying to push the Brazilian in the wall. The German driver did not see it that way – obviously – but the next day issued a statement on his website saying he admits moving too hard on Barrichello.

I did not receive a phone call,” said the Formula One veteran during a karting day in his native Sao Paulo.

I have no regrets. Now we move on. Yes, I have my opinion, but I am quiet. Our time together (at Ferrari) can not have any hostility on the track because you can end up hurting each other,” added Barrichello, hinting that both him and Schumacher should bury the hatchet and move on with their career.

As for the talking to each other situation, Barrichello himself was quite clear about it in the following hours of the Hungaroring race, saying that there's no point in talking to Schu, as “it won't resolve things.” Additionally, he told Agencia Estado that he doesn't plan on being friends with the 7-time world champion.

I have great respect for his championships, but I have no great desire to have him as a friend. Life is about respect for others and forgiveness,” added the soon to become 300-Grand Prix starter.
