Barrichello Lends Button His Private Jet to Return to the UK

Rubens Barrichello proved his immense generosity towards teammate and newly crowned Formula One champion Jenson Button on Sunday afternoon, after he let the 29-year old Brit know that he can borrow his private jet to fly back home to the UK on Monday morning. Therefore, Button was allowed to stay in Brazil and party all night with his family and friends, prior to appearing before his home crowd in Kent, UK.

Initially, Button was scheduled to fly back to the UK on Sunday night, via a British Airways flight out of Sao Paulo, but the aircraft seems to have had some mechanical problems and was kept on land for the remainder of the night.

Before knowing whether the plane could leave Sao Paolo or not, Button was informed by Barrichello that he can stay in Brazil and enjoy his first night as a world champion, after which he'll make sure he gets back to Great Britain first thing in the morning.

Barely has he become world champion, that Button is already scheduled to make a public appearance before his home fans in Kent, for a promotional event set up by Virgin Media. He will therefore take part in a Bluewater Shopping Centre event on Tuesday, on behalf of the aforementioned company.

Barrichello's gesture is even more striking as he was holding a good chance of giving his teammate a go for the title for the season finale at Abu Dhabi. The Brazilian driver started the Sunday race at Interlagos from pole position and looked set to close the gap on Button in the overall standings, especially since the Brit was starting 14th on the grid.

In the end, however, Button finished the race ahead of his teammate – 5th place, as compared to Barrichello's 8th place – and stole the Brazilian's last chance (probably) of becoming world champion in Formula One.
