Barrichello Finally Wins Lawsuit against Google

Rubens Barrichello can finally enjoy his win in court over Internet giant Google. Although his initial favorable court ruling against Google came almost a year ago, the company appealed the court's decision throughout 2010. The final saying on the case was confirmed by a Sao Paolo court on Monday.

Just to refresh your memory, we'll remind you that Barrichello had initially sued Google for over $500,000 (£300,000) in damages for hosting fake online profiles of the Brazilian racer on Orkut, a Google-related social network. The court ruled in favor of the F1 veteran and asked Google to pay him $188,000 (120,000 pounds) for its online fiasco.

According to the Associated Press, the judge ruled that Google took too much time to remove the fake Rubens Barrichello accounts – in which he was mocked and his name was taken advantage of – from their network after the Brazilian had notified the Internet company. This is a final decision, meaning that Barrichello can finally move on from the incident.

As stated by Barrichello after his first win over Google, all the money collected from the lawsuit will be donated to the Instituto Barrichello Kanaan charity, a foundation started back in 2005 with the help of his long-time friend and former IndyCar winner Tony Kanaan, aiming to help the impoverished children of Brazil.

Now that he got this issue out of the way, Barrichello will solely focus on the upcoming race, scheduled for next weekend in his native Brazil. The race at Interlagos kicks off next Friday and will see Barrichello contest his 304th Grand Prix in Formula One, an absolute record in the series.
