Barrichello Backs Hulkenberg for Williams F1 Stay

Nico Hulkenberg is clearly one of the best new-coming drivers currently in Formula One, and he has proved it during last weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix. In a world dominated by Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, the young German managed to put more than a second between him and title contender Sebastian Vettel in the qualifying session last Saturday.

Having that in mind, Frank Williams and Patrick Head will certainly have some busy weeks ahead, as they will have to choose between driver's value or money for the upcoming campaign of F1. Short on sponsors, the Grove-based organization is rumored to have already signed GP2 champ Pastor Maldonado, who promises to bring some EUR15 million in sponsorship for 2011.

But that would mean ousting one of their current drivers, the incredibly-talented Nico Hulkenberg or the much-experienced Rubens Barrichello. For the time being, those two are supporting each other for the future, each having impeccable opinions about the other.

He (Hulkenberg) deserves to be in Formula One. Some people do not, but he does. He is a great talent,” said Barrichello in a recent interview with Globo. And his teammate did not take long to return the compliment.

I think I did everything right this weekend and that talent should come before money. I understand the financial side. I think Rubens and I are the perfect driver combination. I hope we can continue to be together,” added Hulkenberg.

Speaking about his potential replacement for the 2011 season at Williams, Hulkenberg reminded everyone that he beat Maldonado every time he got the chance when the two were teammates in 2009, in the GP2 Series.

In qualifying, I beat him I think 10-0,” he said prior to the Brazilian GP last weekend.
