The Australian Barracuda is one of the most advanced off-road racing vehicles around the world. And it is very affordable too, as you can build one yourself from a kit or blueprints for about $7,500, depending on options you choose.
Each mini off-roader has a tubular steel chassis with independent all-whee, rack and pinion suspension and with disk brakes for both axles. To power the buggy there is a range of engines between 600cc and 1.4 liters borrowed superbikes. They use the original transmission and the chain drive powers the rear wheel assembly.
Weighting about 380 kg, the Barracuda can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds on dirt, and depending on gearing setup, it can reach a top speed of 193 km/h (120 mph).
