Bang & Olufsen Makes the BMW 6 Series Coupe Sound Like a Hit

The introduction next month of the BMW 6 Series Coupe concept at the Paris Auto Show will mark the debut of a very “creative partnership” between the German carmaker and sound specialist Bang & Olufsen. Having supplied the High-End Surround Sound System for the BMW 6 Series concept, Bang & Olufsen announces the beginning of a new era in in-car sound systems. Developed by the company at its location in Struer, Denmark, the High-End Surround Sound System features hand-crafted Acoustic Lens (ALT), a technology which maximizes the area of optimum sound in front of the loudspeaker. There are no less than 16 high-performance loudspeakers fitted into the concept. Each of them features anodized ‘Perl Glanz’ color with laser-engraved Bang & Olufsen logo and solid aluminum grilles. But that's not all. Under each of the front seats there is a subwoofer, accompanied by seven mid-range loudspeakers and seven tweeters. “We are very enthusiastic about this co-operation. BMW and Bang & Olufsen share values that focus on design and performance; values that have given both brands a unique position in the market within their respective areas,” said Karl Kristian Hvidt Nielsen, Bang & Olufsen CEO. As for the BMW 6 Series Coupe concept, it will be revealed in full glory at the Paris Auto Show next month. For now, the limited info available on the concept can be found here. autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
