Baby Porsche Rendered, Entry-Level Sportscar Looks Cute

Rememeber the times when Porsche conceived a turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine family with the aim of placing the mills in an entry-level sportscar? Well, Zuffenhausen cancelled its baby go-fast machine plans back in 2014 and we haven't heard anything new on the matter ever since, even though the 718 models are now animated by four-pots.
Nevertheless, there are plenty of aficionados, myself included, who still dream about a model that would allow one to skip the pre-owned program when aiming for the Porsche crest on a budget.

And it looks like designer Alex Ventus feels the same, at least if we judge by the sketch he's come up with - I was lost in the social media haze earlier today and this thing immediately caught my eye.

An automotive and industrial designer, Alex mixed the styling cues of an uber-compact sportscar with front fascia elements borrowed from the Taycan.

So, would an engine fit behind the seats of this little thing? Hopefully, the answer is positive, as a front-engined layout simply wouldn't fit the bill.

Oh, and yes, those banana-colored calipers are there to signal the presence of PCCB (Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes) hardware, thus boosting this visual adventure, but this is an expensive option, so I doubt too many potential buyers of the model would choose it.

The Porsche entry-level sportscar, a nod to the 550, was part of a greater plan. The scheme should've seen the Porscha getting sister cars from Volkswagen and Audi.

And while they all got the axe, the electric car boom that's currently hitting the market might just see such plans being resurrected one day.

Meanwhile, gear heads are finding their own ways into the budget side of the Porsche camp and this 914-8 (no typo here, the build actually has a V8) is an example as good as any.
