Daimler's Research and Development Chief Thomas Webber believes that the upcoming Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive will have nothing to worry about when battling with the recently-launched BMW i3.
Speaking with Automobilwoche, Webber said that the electric B-Class will be at least as competitive in the market as their rivals' models, obviously referring to the BMW i3 specifically.

“With the B-Class, we are bringing out an electric vehicle with five full-fledged seats and no constraints on trunk space. The B-Class Electric Drive has a range of 200km – and that's not just on paper. The 200km actually can be achieved in normal daily use. The car also has a top speed of 160kph. With torque of significantly more than 300 newton meters and with an acceleration of 0-100kph in 7.9 seconds, we are offering sports car feeling in a compact car. And the batteries are fully charged in three hours.” Thomas Webber told Automobilwoche.

Checking out the specs on the BMW i3, its only real real advantage compared with the Mercedes-Benz might be its 0.7 seconds shorter acceleration from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph). Interior space and luggage compartment, electric range, top speed and even charging time seem to best those of the BMW.
