If your holiday plans include storming the Autobahn at over 200 km/h (125 mph) while sharing four wheels with your family, friends and luggage, then you really have to check out the B&B VW Transporter T5.
The VW Group-dedicated tuner has developed an interesting modification package for the facelifted version of the Transporter T5, which comes with two power upgrade levels. Stage one modifies the twin-turbo 2.0 liter TDI diesel engine’s ECU to increase the boost pressure by 0.2 bar, bringing the unit to 210 hp and 450 Nm of torque.
For customers who really want to burn oil, stage two comes with a 0.25 boost pressure increase, an air induction and air flow optimization, large capacity injectors and an ECU remap to deliver 210 hp and 480 Nm of torque. This allows the passenger van to leave the first hundred behind in 9.8 seconds (a 1.6 seconds improvement over the factory stock figure) and raises it’s top speed from 191 km/h to 203 km/h.
The German tuner recommends the installation of a special oil cooler that offers a bigger volume, improved flow and an extended cooling surface, “guaranteeing the life and steadiness of the engine.” In addition to that, the Transporter gets a stainless steel sport exhaust system.
B&B offers a sport suspension kit for the vehicle, which uses new springs to lower the ride height by 40 mm. A T5 facelift-dedicated adjustable coil-over suspension system, which significantly improves the van’s handling, is also available.
The tuning company has fitted the vehicle with a high performance braking system, which uses four or six piston calipers to provide an impressive stopping power and offers a wide range of light alloy rims for the Transporter.
