Awesome Save: Ford Fiesta ST Nearly Crashes at 'Ring Track Day

This Ford Fiesta ST was participating in a tourist track day on May 4th (Sunday). Coming out of a fast corner, the driver puts all four wheels on the dirt and almost spins the car. There's not a lot of room for error on the Nordschleife, but he manages to save it, not before clipping yet another corner. The ribbed spine on the inside of the track clearly catches a bit of the front bumper, but otherwise, the red car is still good to race.
While the driver did pull an amazing save, he is not following the Nurburgring gentlemen's agreement of etiquette. If you've just had a nasty near-crash like this one, you're supposed to stop driving. Otherwise, you could be leaking oil on the track from a potentially busted oil pan.

With cameras mounted everywhere, you can't make a mistake at the Nurburgring nowadays, as even the slightest lapse of judgement can end up on Youtube, besides costing you a fortune in repair money.

The little red sportscar you see lapping the 'Ring next to BMWs and Porsches is the second generation supermini hot hatch from Ford. Under the legendary ST logo, this regular family car is lowered, stiffened and receives a brand new 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbo engine with 182 horsepower.
