Dodge wants its new subcompact model to become viral, and so today it has pulled the wraps off a racing version called the 2013 Dart RallyCross. The rally car will be raced starting this May, and it will make its official debut at the 2012 New York Motor Show, on April 4th.
Details are somewhat limited, but the Dart has reportedly been fitted with a turbocharged 16-valve 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 600 hp, which are sent to all four wheels. This, in combination with a AWD system, means the Dodge will now accelerate to 60 mph (98 km/h) in a scarcely believable 1.9 seconds.
As driver, Dodge’s SRT Motorsports have signed a deal with 28-year old Travis Pastrana.
