With a quarter mile time of 11.883, AWE Tuning claims that its in-house developed tuning project is the fastest Audi S5 shat hasn't been stripped down. The car was clocked at 116.49 miles per hour, its State-2 3-liter V6 still running on 93 octane pump gas.
The record was set on April 23rd, 2014, at the Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, Maryland.
“We wanted to see what we could do with no prep,” claimed VP of Marketing, Jesse Kramer, “Spare tire was still in, all the seats in, 20” wheels and pump fuel.”
The S5 is a current generation B8.5 (with a facelift). It's striking Samoa Orange paint makes quite famous in the drag racing scene. AWE tuning say the coupe has not only served as a testbed for development of commercial products, but also as a daily driver for company staff.
“We’ve said in the past that we enjoy operating at the intersection of performance and complete practicality. This new record still demonstrates that,” remarked Jesse Kramer, AWE Tuning’s VP of Marketing.
