You know what time it is. Early Saturday morning means Carwow's Mat Watson has put out another YouTube drag race for us to check out. It's especially nice when he teams up with Yiannimize, who's all about winning everything.
The reason for bringing Yanni along is to gain access to his supercar, which is a Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster. We can't think of a better rival for the McLaren 720S Spider. Well... we can, but they weren't available.
Together, these two put out about 1560 horsepower and 1460 Nm of torque, though it's not split evenly. The SV Roadster is powered by a good old-fashioned 6.5-liter V12 Lamborghini engine, supposedly capable of sending 750 HP to all for wheels for a 0 to 100 km/h of 2.9 seconds.
But the SV is so 2015, whereas the 720S Spider is brand new, and it even comes with a McLaren technician to make sure it works. The open-top version of everybody's favorite British supercar makes use of more convenient mechanically folding roof. Mat doesn't miss the opportunity to have a "roof race" just to show how old-fashioned the manual targa top in the Lamborghini is. Oh, and we have a 4-liter bi-turbo V8 making the usual 720 horsepower, a grossly underrated number according to dyno tests.
So what happens when the flag drops? Well, the ambitious Yanni gets a much better start, as shown by the fact that he's ahead in the car that was technically quicker to 60mph. But through pure power, the 720S just manages to win.
The Lambo owner hates this, and he doesn't let Mat off when he misses his gear shift during the rolling race. And with the brake test in the bag as well, the slower Aventador has technically been declared the winner here, though you can tell nobody is happy with the outcome.
