What better way to introduce your five-year old to the world of custom cars and hot rods than with the help of some very unique toy cars. These particular models are made by toy manufacturer Automoblox in a combination of wood and plastics.
The company lead by Patrick Calello has just released two such toys, a hot rod and a complete trailer set, which are expected to sell well during the upcoming shopping season (you know, with the Christmas holidays and all).
The Automoblox hot rod comes in three colors, the red HR1 model, yellow HR2 and blue HR3, all for $50 (EUR36). “This bad boy screams for attention. Sure to bring home trophies at the dragstrip or the car show,” says the description of the toy.
The Hot Rod Trailer set costs a bit more, $120 (EUR90), but comes with a pickup that tows a trailer in addition to the rod. It comes in a green, red & black and blue color schemes. We are especially fond of this latter item, as it looks like a 1932 Ford and comes with white tires and big caps and rings. To keep the look as authentic as possible, the toy comes with drum brakes and a big V8 engine. The open top body is made out of solid wood protected by a lacquer finish.
If you have an adult friend that is into the custom scene, this would also make for a great Christmas present for him. Some people are never too old for toys, the only difference between kids and adults being that adults just call toys models. Who is to say you can't play with these models in the privacy of your own home?
