autoevolution Users See Fernando Alonso the 2010 F1 Champion

The title fight for this year's Formula One championship has become the most thrilling in years, with no less than 4 drivers – until the Brazilian Grand Prix there were 5 of them – having mathematical chances to become world champion.

Prior to the race of Interlagos, we wanted to ask you guys who holds the best chances of being crowned new F1 champion after the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Just to make things perfectly clear, Fernando Alonso is currently leading the overall classification, 8 points ahead of Red Bull's Mark Webber and 15 points ahead of the latter's teammate Sebastian Vettel.

Although both McLaren racers Lewis Hamilton and reigning world champion Jenson Button were in the title hunt until Brazil, the latter is now out of that fight, while Hamilton holds only slim chances for the championship, being 24 points off Alonso.

The poll results suggest that most of you trust Alonso for the title, as the Spaniard needs only a 2nd place in Abu Dhabi in order to become world champion for the 3rd time in career (44 percent of the votes). Second comes Webber, whose runner-up place in Brazil turned him into a clear rival for Alonso in Abu Dhabi, as he took 21 percent of your votes.

Curiously enough, 3rd place was taken by McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, as 14 percent of you voted him instead of Sebastian Vettel (12 percent). However, considering that most of you voted before the Brazilian GP, surely some may want to reconsider their initial choice. Finally, 6 percent voted for a miracle, Jenson Button that is, but his chances went down the drain with his 5th place finish in Brazil.

The season finale will take place this very weekend, in Abu Dhabi, so stay put for the live confirmation of your choices.

For out next poll, we figured all of you would want to cast your vote on the 2011 Car of the Year. And, since there are only 7 cars left in the competition, we'll invite you to share your choices with us.
