“At first, someone had wanted to name our newest car brand blog the “Mercedes-Benz Champions”, but then he took a Silver Arrow to the knee.” - You have no idea of how many times in the last hour I thought that this is the worst intro to an editorial I have ever wrote. Or read. As a matter of fact, I still do, but I'll just leave it as it somewhat gives a glimpse of the strange string of thoughts that goes through a parent's head when trying to name their baby.
Because the Mercedes Silver Arrows Blog is our newest baby, and in the following weeks we think it will be ready to take on the world's best when it comes to Mercedes-Benz themed blogs on the Internet. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill, but I've always been told that my feet are rather large for my height.
First of all, why did we choose the name “Silver Arrows” for a blog that is not exactly about the Mercedes-Benz Silberpfeile of the 1930s and '50's? Well, in short, partly because I'm a sucker for those wonderful old-school Mercedes', and partly because I think that the brand's ascension over the course of its more than a century of history can be seen as that of a silver arrow: a beautiful, sharp streak of silver.
Second of all, just like our BMW Power and Toyota Titans blogs, we will try and create an online authority when it comes to information about a single car brand, a place where Mercedes-Benz aficionados can gather to read stories about their favorite cars.
In the 128 years and counting of existence, the Stuttgart manufacturer has accumulated enough experience in car-making that it's safe to say, even if you're not exactly a fan, they can create vehicles in any imaginable niche and fight for the number one spot in any segment.
Everywhere, from two to six wheels drive, from the tiny smart to the mighty Actros and soon available to be enjoyed on water as well, the three-pointed star can shine in whatever endeavor it sets its sight upon.
