BMW sold 2,500 X3s in 2012 recording a 18.9% increase on the previous year. That made the X3 second on the plus-medium SUV segment, just short of the Audi Q5. The rankings might be changed this year due to this AU$8.000 dollar value increase for the base model.

This new range of options will include for the xDrive20i and the xDrive20d versions of the X3 the following new upgrades: 18" alloy wheels, automatic tailgate, electric seats with memory function and Business Navigation system.

For the higher-spec xDrive28i and xDrive30d the base models will have, starting with April: 8-inch Y-spoke alloys, bi-xenon headlights, anti-dazzle and auto-folding side mirrors, the Professional Navigation system, Top View monitor, smartphone connectivity with extended Bluetooth functionality and voice control, and lumbar support.

The only difference between the last 2 models is the fact that the xDrive28i will also receive the automatic tailgate, a feature that is already standard on the diesel.

At the moment, the base prices for these models are:

  • xDrive20i – AU$59,000
  • xDrive20d – AU$63,100
  • xDrive28i – AU$73,000
  • xDrive30d – AU$76,500
