Right now Australia has a rebadged Toyota Auris instead of the sedan eleventh generation Corolla the rest of us have, but this is soon to change next month.
Starting with February, Toyota Australia will import the new Corolla over from Thailand. The company said that the vehicle built there matches the quality of its Japan-sourced equivalent.
But the biggest reason for importing the vehicle from Thailand is the fact that the company will benefit from the Free Trade Agreement existing between the two countries. The low import costs will allow Toyota to boost equipment levels while keeping the prices down.
Being on the Australian market since October 2012, the current generation Toyota Corolla hatch will still be imported from Japan for a while.
