Australia Might Get the Dodge Charger Next Year

Chrysler Group is considering introducing the Dodge Charger in the Australian market in early 2014.

According to Car Advice, Chrysler’s senior vice president ralph Grilles said that his team is analyzing the possibility to ship a converted right-hand-drive version of the Charged to Australia, to be sold alongside the same platform-sharing Chrysler 300.

“Apparently the Australians favour the Charger more than the 300, so we’re looking at a conversion package where we could do something,” Gilles said. “The market wants it, so that’s something I’m very interested in.”

A 2014 launch would make a great return of the iconic Charger in Australia, as the popular 2-door Chrysler Valiant Charger made there was discontinued in 1978.

The Dodge Charger is offered with three unique powertrains in the US; a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (296 hp/353 Nm), a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 (375 hp/536 Nm) and a high performance 6.4-liter Hemi V8 (477 hp/637 Nm).
