Australia Claims Title for World’s Largest Simultaneous Burnout - 69 Cars at Once

We were not aware of the existence of a record for the world’s largest simultaneous burnout, but apparently it exists, and in order to beat it, more than 50 cars were required to shred their tires at the same time. However, at the Summernats Car Festival, held in Canberra, Australia, they decided to not only beat the record, but ‘smash it’, as one of the organizers of the even says.

So, instead of bringing in 50 cars, a total of 69 drivers, in their own personal cars, turned up in order to break the record. Amusingly, some 30 tires exploded during the 30-second simultaneous burnout, and this was due both to the actual burnout, as well as the very high temperatures recorded on the day.

Still, if another group of record-hungry car enthusiasts decide to break the record, ‘the guys’ will come back to the Summernats venue, in greater numbers and keep the record in Australia, where rear-wheel drive is king, as is the V8, so they thoroughly deserve it!
