Aussie CLA 45 AMG Does The Quarter in Under 13 Seconds

As most of you know, the petrolheads in the land down under aren't very different to the ones in the land of the free, with most of their racing competitions and types of cars revolving around the “there is no replacement for displacement” theory.

It may comes as a surprise that the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG and the A 45 AMG have been so well received by Aussies, considering the fact that both of them sport a petite engine under the hood.

Despite both models getting a 45 AMG moniker, they are in fact powered by a tiny, two-liter four-cylinder attached to a not so tiny twin-scroll turbocharger.

With no less than 360 hp and 450 Nm (332 lb ft) of torque on tap, ready to be sent via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to all four-wheels, it seems that their real-life performance is the culprit behind Australians' infatuation with the two.

The following video depicts several rather bad quarter mile passes by a stock CLA 45 AMG, with the YouTube description mentioning the fact that the best run of day was done in a pretty respectable 12.67 seconds. Not bad for a front-wheel drive-based compact, don't you think?
