The 2013 DTM Season started perfectly for the BMW Motorsport division. They managed to secure the first one-two podium since their return to the DTM in 2012 (when they also won the championship).
This time it was Augusto Farfus' turn to win a DTM race, the first win in the young driver's career in the German Touring championship. Dirk Werner came in second after starting the race on the 20th position of the grid.
Talking about the race, Augusto had to tip his hat off to the amazing new Drag Reduction System that was introduced this year, the new Hankook tires and, most importantly, his team that gave him the best possible advice.
“I am ecstatic. I have realized a dream and a very important one. I am proud to be driving the best racing car in the world in the best touring car series in the world,” said Farfus after the race.
"Any fan who was sitting in the grandstands today must have been thrilled by the show we put on. I never seemed to stop fighting for my win. The DRS was doing its job. Hankook worked hard on producing the option tyre and just look at the results and you can see they also spiced up the racing,” added the Brazilian driver.
