Starting from the second position, the Brazilian went to the win from the beginning, quickly overtaking Jamie Green from Audi, the pole position car. For Farfus it was the second win this season and the third since he joined the DTM.

Following this race's results, Farfus is not second in the Drivers' Championship with 91 points and is the only driver that can still catch up to Rockenfeller that has 124 points at the moment. In the Manufacturers' Championship, BMW held its lead with 276 point, just 9 points ahead of Audi and 39 ahead of Mercedes-Benz.

However, other BMW drivers were not so lucky. Reigning champion, Bruno Spengler had a patch of bad luck. After an encouraging start, gaining 3 positions in the first lap, he had a hard time keeping up and had to forfeit 11 laps before the finish line due to a collision with Robert Wickens from Mercedes.

Martin Tomczkyk too had some problems, having to end the race shortly before the end due to some technical problems. The one good news came from Joey Hand that managed to set the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1:21.255 on lap 14.
