Audi seems to be aware of the fact that it’s taken the “family identity” concept too far and the company is working to redefine its design philosophy.
According to autocar, the German automotive producer is already in an advanced stage of the project. The company’s design director Stefan Sielaff told the aforementioned source that Audi will use a new design strategy, which will use the “AQR” acronym, with A standing for Audi (sedans and hatches, Q for Quattro (SUVs) and R for sports cars.
Each of the three categories will have its own design standards, such as the angle of the front grille, the headlight silhouette and the body surfacing. For example, the saloon will come with a grille that’s uses a certain angle, while SUV will have a more upright design.
In addition to that, Audi is also looking to develop an identity for its e-tron electric vehicles.
