People in the auto industry know that there is no such thing as Santa Clause: when an automotive producer releases a concept that sends the public’s jaw through the auto show floor, this will never get the production green light.
However, there are certain exception to this rule and it seems that the Audi Urban Concept is one of them. According to CAR Magazine, Audi is planning to bring the vehicle to the streets, with the company planning a limited production of 1,000 units for as early as 2013.
The Audi Urban Concept came to the world at this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show, only weighing 1.058 lbs thanks to the use of materials such as carbon fiber-reinforced polymer and being powered by two electric motors that produce 20 hp.
However, the production version is expected to offer 40 hp, but this still means that it will be limited to city use. The production version of the Audi Urban Concept is expected to be priced at about EUR10,000 (approximately $14,000).
