Audi has announced it’s taking a new step towards bringing its top-notch models to luxury residences. Pretentious drivers with consistent bank accounts have been one of the company’s primary audiences for quite a while now, but in the light of the Volkswagen’s emission cheat scandal, it remains a significant step to take.
Nevertheless, the new service called “Audi at home” will launch this week in San Francisco and Miami. Thought as a premium, collaborative vehicle sharing initiative, it provides residents of select properties a new way to experience the company’s luxury models. It all starts at Lumina by Tishman Speyer, San Francisco’s largest luxury condominium project currently under construction.
Lumina is the first residential community on the West Coast to offer the service, while the Four Seasons Residences in Miami will offer something similar on the East Coast. Audi said the service would soon expand to other major cities in the U.S.
It may seem like a regular car-sharing business to some, but the Germans say Audi at home provides exclusive access to a fleet of premium vehicles located at the customers' residence, prepared and ready to drive. Being able to book a vehicle instantly, combined with the variety of vehicles - these are what make it special, apparently.
“Spontaneity, personalization and customization is core to the Audi at home service,” said Mark Del Rosso Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Audi of America. “It provides residents a truly premium experience that suits their daily life and needs, whether it’s a car for a quick getaway out of the city or an extra vehicle for visiting guests.”
All the cars part of the program are equipped with Prestige trim, and 24/7 live customer care is offered for drivers’ convenience. Rates are charged either hourly or daily, and they cover services such as cleaning, fuel, insurance, local tolls and unlimited mileage. Since even the new gets old eventually, Audi will also rotate the autos on-site on a regular basis, to keep things fresh.
