German tuning specialists ABT Sportsline have announced their lineup for this year's Geneva Motor Show will include this "gunmetal bullet", a tuned Audi TT that jumps the gap from ordinary coupe to proud performance model.
We've seen a similar project at last year's Essen Tuning Show, but many components have been revised and the discrete paintjob is much better as well. Under its bonnet, this TT had a 230 hp 2-liter turbo engine, the same as in the Golf GTI. This has been re-tuned and now produces 310 hp (228 kW), while torque is up from 370 Nm to 440 Nm (from 272 to 324 lb-ft).
"And this means there has to be power and performance,” says CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt. “With this exhibition model we show how much potential there is even in the 2.0 TFSI quattro, which we have upgraded to the level of the production TTS.“
Cosmetically, a great deal of changes were made. At the front, the vertical air blades channel the air just like a DTM racer and the chin spoiler brings the TT closer to the ground. New skirts were also installed, as well as larger 20-inch alloy wheels in the new ABT FR design with Continental tires in 255/30 R20.
Around the back, the twin pipes that already made the Mk3 TT look much better than the old one was swapped out for a new quad exhaust system. Custom mirror caps, badging and even "ABT" engraving on the exhaust make this TT as unique as it is powerful.
In other Audi news, we're sad to report that due to more severe tests, the Audi TT has scored a 4-star safety Rating with Euro NCAP, despite sharing its underpinnings with the A3 and Golf. So it's probably for the best that a 6-piston braking system has also been installed as part of the tuning project. You know… to help avoid crashing!
