Late last year, the German tuners at MTM were announcing a choice of three power upgrades for the Audi TT RS model. The maximum output offered by the tuners then was of 424 bhp, 84 bhp more than with the standard settings. The other two options only raised the power to 404 and 408 bhp respectively, and 550 Nm of torque.
Now, MTM comes back and launch an even more powerful upgrade for the Audi TT RS, one that pushes the engine to 472 bhp.
The upgrade, tested on the Nardo circuit in Italy, was made possible thanks to a revised ECU, a new turbocharger, a new exhaust system and also Dunlop Sport Maxx tires on 20-inch bimoto wheels.
With this extra power added under its hood, the Audi TT RS can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in no less than 3.2 seconds, and keep on accelerating until reaching a top speed of 312 km/h (194 mph).
"It's not decisive what we measure on the dynamometer but how many bhp you get on the road" Roland Mayer, owner and Head of the technical Department of MTM, said in a statement. "The right master plan has a bigger effect on driving dynamics, acceleration times and maximum speed than the search for a maximum in performance values."
The costs for the upgrade from 380 to 472 bhp are about EUR14,500 including tax and installation. The price for 20-inch bimoto forged rims, 15-inch brakes with eight-piston calipers (front axle) is EUR9,973 including tax and installation.
MTM says it is currently working on an over 500 bhp version.
