It’s funny how platforms work. Audi realized there’s money to be made in premium superminis and took the platform from underneath the VW Polo. However, Audi is always in battle with its German rivals to produce more powerful cars.
Some people might say that 180 horsepower from a 1.4-liter TFSI engine is enough in this car, but there’s a hotter version called the A1 quattro, which packs a 2-liter 256 hp engine and all-wheel drive.

The A1 quattro is a sold-out limited production car, and we thought they would never make another batch, but it seems demand was so good that and RS1 is on the way.

Worldcarfans has discovered a bunch of paten filing images of a really hot A1 version. We looked closely at the car from every angle and concluded that most of the body panels are from the A1 quattro, including the bumpers, exhaust and rear wing. The wheels are different, however, and are done in the usual Audi RS style.

There are other hints that this is an RS1, and not an S1. For example, the S1 prototype we’ve seen has quad exhaust, this has double exhaust like RS models do. Also, the body kit is way too extreme, and they don’t use side skirts like this on S cars.
