Audi plans to release an initial batch of 100 e-trons, which will be produced at the company’s German Ingolstadt plant in 2012. Consequently, this will be extended to a 1,000 units run. The production site that will be used for the vehicle on the long term has not been revealed just yet. "It doesn't necessarily have to be built in Ingolstadt," Audi CEO Rupert Stadler told the aforementioned source. However, the plant which will bring the e-tron to the world will certainly be based in Germany. According to autocar.uk, the electric sports car is expected to be more expensive that the R8 supercar.
