Audi to Pay 6,500 Euros Bonus to Each Employee

German carmaker Audi will pay around 6,500 Euros to each of the 42,500 workers after the excellent sales results posted by the company in 2010. A report by the AFP shows that the whole bonus will cost the carmaker a total of 276.8 million euros, which is the biggest bonus ever paid by Audi.

No less than 6,513 Euros will be paid to workers, the company said in a statement, while employees in Brussels and Gyoer, northern Hungary, will receive a second bonus worth a monthly salary.

Audi performed very good in 2010, with sales being driven forward by China, but the company has posted increases in most markets across the globe. Global sales totaled 1.09 million vehicles, while exceeding for the first time the 100,000 unit barrier in the United States.

December was a strong month for Audi in the United States, selling a total of 10,546 units, marking a 16.8 percent increase over the 9,030 vehicles sold in December 2009. The German carmaker's new sales rose nearly 23% versus its prior full-year total of 82,716 vehicles sold in 2009. This is thanks to the extended model lineup that now includes 10 cars and nearly 20 variants in the American market.

"For Audi, 2010 was a groundbreaking year. Audi is one of the best performing franchises in the business today. Consumers respond favorably to superior engineering, efficient performance, and differentiated styling, and that's what they see in Audi," said Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen.
