Audi's British division recently announced that it has opened the order books for the SQ5 TDI performance diesel SUV, with the first deliveries scheduled to take place in spring next year. This is the first diesel-powered "S" in Audi's UK range, with the vehicle being priced at GBP43,870 OTR.
Under the hood, we get Audi's new 3.0-liter V6 BiTDI engine, which allows the drive to play with 313 hp between 3,900 and 4,500 rpm and a peak torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) between 1,450 and 2,800 rpm.
The powerplant works with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox, sending the power to the road via a quattro all-wheel drive system. The SQ5 TDI deals with the 0 to 62 mph sprint in 5.1 seconds and offers a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), while returning an efficiency of 41.5 UK mpg (34.5 US mpg 6.8 l/100 km) and emitting 179 grams of CO2 per km.
