According to German website Auto Zeitung, the new Sport Quattro will make use of several lightweight components, including carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and magnesium for a total weight of only 1,300 kilograms (2,866 pounds).

Also, our source claims the new vehicle will be more powerful than the Quattro concept thanks to a twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers 650 HP, which could translate into a 0 to 100 km/h time of only 3.4 seconds. A sport quattro rear differential, a sports suspension with adaptive dampers and carbon-ceramic brakes are also likely to be offered.

If the report proves to be true, the Audi Sport Quattro should cost at least €115,000 ($154,000 / £98,000).

The original Audi Sport Quattro, which was developed for WRC Group B homologation and offered as a road car in limited numbers, turns celebrates 30 years in 2014.
