Audi Shows A3 e-tron and S3 at Tokyo Motor Show

Just a little over two months separate the Frankfurt Motor Show from its Japanese counterpart, the Tokyo Motor Show. And so, two brand new compacts from Ingolstadt have been officially launched in the second biggest Asian market today, the A3 e-tron and the S3.

The A3 e-tron is Audi first production hybrid compact car. What you see is what you buy, and we think the extra chrome makes this an even better looking car than the regular A3. The powertrain is equally as important, with systemic output of 204 hp from an electric motor and a 150 hp 1.4-liter turbo engine. It's got pure-EV driving range and fuel economy of just 1.5 l/100km.

The other red A3 shown by Audi in Tokyo is not an A3 at all. It's the 300 horsepower Audi S3 Saloon. This quattro model benefits from the latest architecture, TFSI engine technology and interior goodies. Just like any S model, Chrome mirrors, wheels and a sporty body kit make it look ever-so-slightly sharper.
