Audi September Sales Up 13.6%

Audi has announced it has delivered 136,600 cars worldwide in September 2012, 13.6% more than in the same month a year ago. For the year-to-date, 1,097,500 customers chose a model with the four rings – 12.8 percent more than in 2011.
Despite the crisis, Audi grew 7.4% in Europe last month, but the real growth markets were the United States with 26.5% and China with 20.5%.

In Europe, new models such as the A1 Sportback, Q3 and A6 Avant were the main forces behind the increase. The brand maintained growth in its domestic market of Germany, but it was Britain, the second largest European market that impressive, with a surprising increased by 20 percent to 22,389 units.

Meanwhile, the US saw increased demand for the new A4 and A5 models. Also, almost twice as many people bought the Q7.

SUVs were also popular in China, together with the locally built A6 L, of which some 96,100 were sold. Chinese customers remain loyal to this market-specific long wheelbase car.

“This year we reached the tally of one million cars sold after just nine months – clear evidence that we are realizing our strategic goals in the right way,” commented Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Marketing and Sales at AUDI AG. “We are seeing our new models succeed in the marketplace, reflecting the tastes of customers,” continued de Meo.
