In the coming moments, you're going to watch an Audi S3 going up against a brand new Subaru WRX STI. The Japanese car is going to lose quite badly considering it has more power, and we're here to find out why.
Let's examine the engines first. The S3 has an all-new 2-liter turbo rated at 300 PS and 380 Nm of torque. The WRX STI is a little trickier. Its 2.5-liter boxer engine has a 305 bhp rating in America, which would give it about 310 PS in Europe, but the official number for the EU-spec car is exactly 300 hp. Regardless, it's at least equally as powerful as the Audi.
Where the two cars differ is in the way that power is delivered. Both have a type of all-wheel drive, but the S3 has a twin-clutch gearbox and uses launch control to get off the line.
In the video, the two have pretty much the same sprint to 100 km/h, but the German car becomes faster over that speed because the S tronic auto shifts faster than the 6-speed manual in the Subaru.
