Audi S3 Sedan Tuned to 380 HP by SR Performance

The Audi S3 seems like a pretty novel idea from Audi, who hasn't made any fast compacts with a boot in a while now. With a 300 horsepower 2-liter turbo up front sending all its power down the shafts of quattro all-wheel drive, the model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just over 5 seconds. And yet, there's so much untapped potential…

SR Performance is one company who's tried to tap that performance by tuning the TFSI engine from it usual numbers to 380 hp and 470 Nm (346 lb-ft) of torque – that's an increase of 80 hp and 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

Thanks to the extra power, the S3 is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. All this has been made possible thanks to an MTM ECU tuning kit, a BN downpipe and an HJS catalytic converter.

Simples changes always give the most enjoyable results, so the S3 has not been redesigned in any way. But a set of KW coilover springs and 20-inch alloy wheels from the A6 parts catalog go some way towards improving the stance.

This simple and relatively cheap sports sedan can now keep up with a Porsche 911 Carrera in a sprint and while some might say the looks aren't all there, die-hard Audi fans will certainly disagree. The 3-box shape seems to remind everybody of the S2 from the 90s, which had a 2.2-liter turbocharged engine that produced 220 hp.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
