Just in case we needed a reminder of just how insane of a model the Audi RS6 Avant is, here's one: it's got the same engine as a Lamborghini. Granted, it's the Lambo SUV and it's down on power, but still, how many other station wagons can say that about themselves?
Yes, it's a 4.0-liter (3,996 cubic centimeters, to be exact) twin-turbo V8 with different tune levels so it develops 600 hp in the Audi and 650 hp in the Urus. This bump in power for the Lamborghini was absolutely mandatory because otherwise, nobody would have ever taken the SUV seriously. It's OK to ask us to buy a Lambo SUV, but one that has less or the same amount of power as an Audi wagon? Forget about it.

The V8 also produces more torque in the Italian (brand) vehicle, but 37 lb-ft (50 Nm) doesn't really make much of a difference at this level (590/800 lb-ft/Nm for the Audi and 627/850 lb-ft/Nm for the Urus). Besides, even though the RS6 is insanely heavy at just over two tons (4,575/2,075 lbs/kg), the Lambo is even more of a lard ball weighing roughly 440 lbs (200 kg) on top of that.

Like any carwow duel, the battle between these two starts with a sound check. The Audi is much quieter than the RS6s of old, but let's see if the Lambo can make that forgettable experience go away. "Go on, rev the Urus". Cabin shot - wow, that thing sounds great. Exterior shot - uhm, where did the sound go? Oh, we get it, it's got one of those sound enhancers that sends some audio through the vehicle's speaker system. Busted, Lambo.

After the sound test, it's time for the real confrontation. As always, you'll be treated to a standing quarter mile race, a rolling race, and a brake test where the shortest braking distance from 70 mph (113 km/h) wins. The Audi is the clear favorite for the last one, but the books are still open for the other two. Will the Lamborghini receive a spanking from a station wagon? Feel free to place a bet before you hit the play button below.
