Audi RS4 Gets 580 HP Thanks to Whipple Kompressor and Mcchip

Audi has stopped all production for the RS4 and, according to our information, the replacement won't be ready for delivery until early 2018. That means the models that have already been made are precious commodities, to be treated like royalty by the die-hard quattro fans.

At its best, the RS4 is only a 450 horsepower wagon that looks rather dorky. But the tuners at Mcchip-DKR have extracted pure gold from the 4.2-liter engine.

As you all know, the naturally aspirated FSI V8 is already nearing its maximum potential when it leaves the factory, so there isn't much tuners can do to it. That's why Mcchip had to install a Whipple Kompressor system.

This high-tech supercharger has had a profound effect, adding 130 horsepower. As you all know, superchargers have much better response times than turbochargers, so the upgraded RS4 should have an easy job dealing with the C63 AMG and BMW M3, at least in a straight line. Besides that, at 580 PS, this baby wagon of the RS range is capable of taking on the bigger RS6.

Many accessory components had to be installed, including a large intercooler. However, superchargers are kind of a house specialty at Mcchip. The extra air flow into the engine is accompanied by a stainless steel sports exhaust system from Capristo and Mcchip’s new software patch.

In case you're wondering, torque has also gone up, from 430 Nm to 550 Nm. It's not a spectacular number, but the driving experience is still going to border on terrifying.

As a brief reminder let just add the fact that the current RS4 Avant model was launched at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It features standard quattro all-wheel drive and a 7-speed automatic gearbox which helps it accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. With the tuning upgrades, it should now be able to do the same thing in about 4.2-4.3 seconds.
