Since the Volkswagen Group holds a plethora of brands, this means bringing together all-out performance marques or go-fast division of "civilian" ones. Of course, this can lead to cannibalization, with the Germans having to pay special attention to the prevention of friendly fire. Now, you would imagine that in the case of two go-fast machines like the Lamborghini Aventador S and the Audi RS3, there's no reason to fret over the phenomenon described above.
Well, such an assumption might just be wrong. And, to prove this point, we've brought along a drag race between the Aventador RS and the RS3 Sportback.

Both machines are the kind that you can currently find in the showroom and, as far as we know, none of them had been taken down the aftermarket path. This means we're talking about a 740 hp Italian exotic that goes up against a 400 hp hot hatch, the major league kind.

Both come with all-paw hardware, so the drivers had no problem with using a standing start. In fact, the two duked it out on two separate occasions, switching lanes in the process. Keep in mind that the fought during a velocity event held on an airfield - the hostilities were held in Weeze, Germany.

And since the VW Group owns Lamborghini through Audi, the drag racing action was even spicer.

Note that the guy behind the wheel of the Raging Bull doesn't seem to make full use of the supercar's potential. And while we're not sure whether he used Launch Control or not (skipping it would've meant giving the RS3 a fair chance), it seems like he could also work on his paddle shifter moves.

Speaking of the Lamborghini Aventador, we'll remind you that the Italian automotive producer has recently dropped the SVJ incarnation of the machine. Packing 760 hp and intelligent aerodynamics, the Lambo managed to set a new Nurburgring production car lap record, thanks to a lap time of 6:44.9. That's right, the trophy was taken from the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which needed 6:47 to blitz the Green Hell.
