Audi RS Q8 Debuts Crazy Matte Black and Red Camo, Looks Ready to Come Out

Audi USA said something was coming out today. Could this be what they were talking about? By now, you're probably familiar with the Audi RS Q8, with is the first true performance SUV in the history of the company, but you've probably never seen it like this.

These spyshots show the prototype wearing a bold new color combination on top of basically zero camouflage. It's so cool that we wish it was sold like that. However, it's not the first Audi to go all Tron on us, as we had that happen with the e-tron models as well.

There are several cosmetic changes which are made abundantly clear by the red wrapping. For example, the main grille frame is not only a new shape but also features mesh set deeper inside and three small vents at the top, a tribute to the Ur Quattro. Chin spoilers, extra grilles, vents to cool the brakes - you've got everything a €150,000 sports car needs right now. Even the headlights look like they've been tweaked.

Now, unlike something like an RS4, this doesn't appear to have wider fenders, but Audi has created extra room by installing flairs adding about an inch of width all-round. You can't miss the new design for the 22-inch wheels or the lower side sills.

The back end is busier than a squirrel in nut season. Pay close enough attention and you might notice the extra little vents under the taillights, a new trunk lid spoiler, and dual exhaust pipes. This diffuser isn't that much bigger than the one that comes with the Q8 S line, but you get an extra portion of fake vents.

About the only thing missing is the power output, which should come along shortly. We believe the RS Q8 makes either 571 (420 kW) like the S8 or 605 HP (445 kW) like the old RS6/7 models. Of course, this is the same engine fitted to a variety of cars, so anything from about 550 HP to a 680 HP plug-in hybrid has been discussed.
