On August 10th, we discovered a report suggesting Audi will show a new quattro concept at the upcoming IAA in Frankfurt. The unconfined rumor has now turned out to be true, as only a couple of hours ago a set of design sketches popped up without warning on their social media outlets.
With only these photos to go by, we'll just call it as we see it and say this really is the new quattro concept, taking cues from the one from 2010. There's also a hint of new design language, with taillights that definitely captured our imagination and a matching interior.

According to last week's report, the new concept will be based on the A6 platform and will measure about 4.6 meters, 30cm more than the 2010 concept which was about the size of a TT. Some of the sketches suggest this car is a four-seater coupe, suggesting a rival for the BMW 6 Series and Mercedes E-Coupe.

The Frankfurt-bound concept could also be a hybrid, since there's a big red button on the steering wheel, similar to those found on hybrid supercars with overboost. Rumor has it the new quattro has an electric motor that adds 170 PS to the 600 PS offered up by a conventional twin-turbo V8. We'll know for sure in a few weeks, once the German auto show opens its doors.
