The next generation of Audi S3, built on the flexible and light MQB platform, is going to make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show 2012 later this week.
This stunning new machine is a master of the hothatch game, offering the most powerful incarnation of the 2.0-liter TFSI direct-injection turbo engine yet produced. This engine, known internally as the EA113 is 5 kg (11 lbs) lighter than the old one, but offers an amazing 300 PS (296 HP) and 380 Nm (280.27 lb-ft) of torque between 1,800 and 5,500 rpm, an increase of 35Hp and 30Nm respectively
The rest of the drivetrain is made up of a custom suspension setup developed by Audi’s quattro division, a six-speed manual gearbox or option S tronic, plus permanent all-wheel drive.
Thanks to this, the S3 should be able to play with sportscars, reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.1 seconds with the optional automatic and 5.4 seconds with the manual. Top speed is, as usual, limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
