Audi Ready for Kieler Woche

The passion German manufacturer Audi has developed for sailing seems to have no boundaries. After a year ago the brand with four rings got involved with the world's biggest sailing festival for the first time, the car maker committed this week to support it for the next three years as well.

As it has announced ever since last year, Audi will borrow its name to the Franco-German team with which it sailed last year, entering both the MedCup and the TP52 World Championship. The car maker will supply the team with a new boat to use in the TP52 class, who was constructed in Sydney.

As the start of the sailing regatta approaches, Audi will pick up the pace and kick off a series of related activities, meant to make its involvement in the event more visible. The car maker will stamp its logo on posters, in the center of the city, along the “Kiellinie” harbor promenade, on the official clothing, in the program booklet or on the turning marks of the regatta lanes.

Audi will also be the host of the daily briefings and podium ceremonies at the Audi Hospitality at the Sailing Center in Kiel’s Schilksee. A station for sailing fans will be set up at the Kiel Yacht-Club, from where those with a thing for this sport will be able to watch the competitions in flat-screen monitors.

“Sailing with its dynamics and technology plus the sporting competition at the highest level is a perfect fit for Audi,” said Hans-Peter Kleebinder, Audi head of Marketing Germany.

“We’ve got fond memories of the enthusiasm of the spectators and sailors last year. In 2011 our commitment will feature an even larger and more attractive program. We’re already looking forward to nine days of spectacular sailing under the symbol of the Four Rings.”
