Audi has released the pricing of the lightweight, high-spec GT version of the R8 supercar, announcing that the first customers will receive their cars in spring. At the heart of the vehicle we find a modified version of the naturally aspirated 5.2 liter V10 powerplant from the R8 V10, which is also shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo.
The engine offers a 42 hp premium, delivering a total of 560 hp, while the torque figure has been increased by 7 lb-ft to 398 lb-ft. The wave of power and torque is sent to all four wheels through the use of a tweaked R-tronic robotized manual gearbox.
The official performance figures for the R8 GT show that the 1,525 kg vehicle only needs 3.6 seconds to deal with the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint and can reach a top speed of 199 mph (319 km/h).
The vehicle comes with a set of aerodynamic elements including a front splitter, carbon fiber aerodynamic surfaces (mounted on the corners of the front bumpers) and a rear wing. The interior of the car has received a bespoke instrument cluster, an extended Alcantara finish and new door sills.
As the vehicle is actually a track car for the road, it can be fitted with a set of specific equipment including a roll cage, four point seat belts, a deactivation switch for the battery and a fire extinguisher.
The R8 GT comes with a lot of extra spice, but it will also blow a serious hole in your bank account, as each of the 333 units of the vehicle will have a price of EUR258,900 ($320,200).
