Audi R8 Burns to a Crisp in Thailand

Thai cuisine may be familiar with open fire and yet we didn’t expect this to spread to cars. We’re talking about the Audi R8 in the adjacent images, which was engulfed by flames in Bangkok.

Photos coming from bystanders show the fire originated in the engine compartment of this pre-revamp, V10-powered supercar. As it usually happens when flames get a hold of mid-engined machines, the R8 was consumed up to the front wheels.

Not only did the car burn, but its interior was completely ruined. Ironically enough, rain was pouring down as the Audi decided to demonstrate what spontaneous combustion means.

The fire was eventually put out by a local fire brigade, but it was too late for the R8. The only good side to this story is that nobody was injured in the unfortunate incident.

Despite the fact that supercars have been burning down for no apparent reason for years and years, the industry doesn’t seem to be willing to come up with a truly effective solution for this. Possibly thanks to the immense awareness of the brand, Ferraris have become known for playing with fire, but, as demonstrated by the R8 we have here, other supercars behave just as badly.
