Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro Gets the Lego Treatment

More often than not, it doesn’t usually take much to talk a car enthusiast into playing with some of the toys from his or her childhood including anything from Matchbox cars to Legos. The latter is exactly what Fourtitude has us missing by revealing this obviously leaked image showing what easily appears to be a Lego version of the Audi R18 e-tron quattro racecar.

Though not officially licensed as such, this Lego Technic model features all of the four-ringed LMP1 styling cues such as the stacked nose, vertical headlights and even the shapes of the front fenders. Of course, being built by hundreds of tiny blocks affords some level of artistic liberties that creates just enough distinction that it isn’t a direct unlicensed copy, but any true fan Le Mans prototype racing should instantly be able to recognize this car. In fact, aside from the lacking Audi logo, the only major differencing on this block-by-block version is the color, which won’t be too difficult to fix with some red paint (or red blocks, if you’re up to the challenge).

Even if you’re not an Audi LMP1 fan, this particular kit, which isn’t on sale yet, is a 2-in-1 set meaning that these blocks will build an entirely different vehicle altogether. Looking at the Lego Technic site, some of the cooler 2-in-1 sets feature combinations such as an open-wheel race car that can also be built as a race truck, an excavator/tractor combo and a remote-controlled Volvo dump truck/front-end loader.

And this isn’t the Lego set you grew up with as a kid. This particular Audi LMP1 set is geared toward 10-14 year olds. There’s no telling when this kit will be available for purchase, but when it is, you can expect many Audi race fans will be itching to get their hands on this!
