Those who attended the 2010 Paris Motor Show were wowed by Audi’s Quattro concept, a car which harks back to the firm’s glory days of rallying, bringing the shape of their old rally car up to date, in a sleek and very well designed package - one of their best ever, we say.
Sadly, we will never get to hear its 400 hp 2.5-liter straight-five engine on the road, as Audi have decided not to make it at all, stating the lack of demand as the primary reason for the decision. However, they will be replacing it somewhat with a new car, a Range Rover Evoque-rivaling sporty two-door SUV, which may be called the Q-Coupe.
In order to compete with the Evoque, the upcoming Q-Coupe will be strikingly styled, as Audi are well aware that giving it the usual family face with few alterations may not cut it in this particular niche. Underpinning it may be the Audi Q2 chassis, while power is still expected to come from the 2.5-liter engine, albeit in a lower state of tune.
