Audi quattro "Wilderness" Ad Is a Volvo Copycat

2014 has had a very dry and unimpressive winter season, which is sad for any owner of a quattro car. To cheer its fans and also bring attention to its sponsorship of the Sochi winter olympics, Audi decided to put together a little commercial.

It's called "Wildnis", the German way of saying "Wilderness", the Audi being keen on showing how tough and adventurous their A5 Sportsback sedan… five door coupe thing is.

The usual arctic frozen desert sets the fitting background for one supposedly rugged Audi, which only feels at home in the snow. Supposedly, we're supposed to swallow an indirect hard pill, that quattro is as wild as the mountain lion and the polar bear. If that's true, than why doesn't it eat the bunny! Chop, chop Audi – make with the funny before Jaguar get wind of the idea.

But our biggest problem with this quattro spot is that it's a bit of a ripoff. Volvo made a similar spot back a few month ago, featuring the XC70 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Compared to that, Audi's work is very forgettable.

Just to be clear, if you plan on buying the A5 five-door, know that quattro is available with the 2.0 TFSI, 3.0 TFSI, 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI with outputs ranging from 177 PS to 272. Of course, there's also the supercharged S5 for those who want to hunt bigger arctic pray.
