Audi Q7 Special Edition In the Making

Audi has one purpose in mind and that’s to become one of the world’s biggest premium car automakers. To reach that goal, the German brand in planning to built a Special Edition Q7 worth EUR200,000 ($285,000). The release date might be in a couple of months' time and rumor has it that even an R8 special edition model is in the books.

One of the first special edition models will probably be a Q7 powered by a turbo-diesel V-12-engine with a bodywork in two-tone, phantom black and black velvet paint. The car will be produced in limited run of just 555 models.

In June, a V-10 special edition R8 will be available on the market and it’s thought to be a very race-focused model in comparison to the standard R8. The car is going to be very rare due to the production of only 40 such race track R8s. The price tag for each model will be $136,000 (EUR 94,000) and the only selling market is going to be the United Arab Emirates.

Rumors suggest that a special edition R8 only for the UK market will also come later this year. Audi is not at the first attempt to build cars for a specific market, as it has also done so last year, when it offered a $78,000 (EUR 54,000) black and white edition TT only for the Chinese market with a production number set for 450 units only.

By 2015, Audi would like special edition models to represent up to 20% of its sales volume. Back in 2009, these kind of cars represented just 5.4 percent of the automaker’s sales, but this figure doubled last year, reaching the level mark of 10 percent.
